“More than three million immigrants arrived during Labour’s time in power - the biggest influx of people since the Saxon invasion more than 1,000 years ago.

Campaign group MigrationWatch says figures to be published by the Office for National Statistics on Thursday will show that of the 3.2 million immigrants who have arrived since 1997, 80% came from outside the EU.

The report is also expected to show that 75% of extra jobs created during the boom years went to foreign-born workers and that the percentage of children born to a foreign mother almost doubled under Labour to 25%.

Speaking on Jeff Randall Live, MigrationWatch’s chairman Sir Andrew Green said that the three million-plus extra people equates to the creation of three cities the size of Birmingham.”
